About Olive

Olive is a sweet, outgoing girl who was surrendered to us after becoming fully paralyzed, but you'd never know it from her spirit. Despite everything she's been through, Olive remains affectionate, easygoing, and endlessly loving. She adores people of all ages, especially children, and greets everyone with the same warmth and trust.

Olive's journey hasn't been easy. An MRI revealed that some of the bones in her spine didn't develop normally before birth, a condition she's likely lived with her whole life rather than the result of a recent injury. She also has a ruptured disc pressing on her spinal cord, along with a smaller bulging disc further down her spine. Her vets determined that surgery wasn't the right path for her, and instead her condition is being carefully managed through rehab therapy and close monitoring. The good news is that it's working. Since starting her treatment plan, Olive is no longer incontinent, she's going to the bathroom on her own again, and she has even started using her back legs. Her progress has been remarkable, and it's a testament to just how much fight and resilience she has in her.

Olive's ideal home is one that will continue her rehabilitation therapy and keep her exercise modified, with no jumping and gentle activity like stroller rides in place of long walks. She does best in a calm household, ideally without other dogs that might jump on her or play too rough. What she needs most is patience, love, and a family willing to stay the course with her recovery.

Olive doesn't let her body define her. She still wants to love, be loved, and be part of a family, and with the right people by her side, she keeps proving just how much progress is possible.
